Kesätauolla piti olla, mutta löysin niin hyviä (mm. yliopistojen) ilmaisia kursseja lähinnä graafiseen alaan liittyen, että pakko jakaa. Huom. Vaikkakin monen kurssin voi aloittaa joustavasti milloin vain, niin näistä suurimmassa osassa on aloitus 20. tai 27. 5.2019. Aloituspäivä sanotaan kurssin omalla sivulla, minne pääset otsikkolinkistä.

Introduction to Graphic Design History
Where did graphic design come from, and where will it go next? This fast-paced introduction to graphic design history will change your understanding of everything from fonts and letterforms to posters and brands.

Ideas from the History of Graphic Design
This condensed survey course focuses on four key periods or themes from the history of design. Together we’ll trace the emergence of design as a recognized practice, why things look the way they do, and how designers approached specific design problems in their work.

Introduction to Graphic Illustration
Through a series of projects, students will explore the translation, production and distribution of their visual ideas. Through the integration of design principles and drawing skills, students gain an opportunity to discover new possibilities for illustrated visual expression in the market.

Comics: Art in Relationship
This course offers a look at the fundamental building blocks of the comic book medium. Exploring panel to panel transitions, text to image relationships, and the intricacies of page layouts, students will examine new and innovative ways to bring their stories to life.

Introduction to Imagemaking
This course for serious makers, and for students new to imagemaking. Imagemaking is a fluid and exciting area of graphic design that comes out of practice and process: experimenting fearlessly, showing and sharing ideas, and giving and receiving knowledgeable and constructive input.

Script Writing: Write a Pilot Episode for a TV or Web Series
In this project-centered course*, you will design a series bible and write a complete pilot episode for your own unique television or web series, be it drama or comedy or something in between. You’ll learn to break down the creative process into components, and you’ll discover a structured process that allows you to produce a polished and pitch-ready script in just a few weeks.

Design Thinking for Innovation
At every level in every kind of organization, design thinking provides the tools you need to become an innovative thinker and uncover creative opportunities that are there – you’re just not seeing them yet. In this course, we provide an overview of design thinking and work with a model containing four key questions and several tools to help you understand design thinking as a problem solving approach. 

Principles of Photo Composition and Digital Image Post-Production
You will gain a more professional-level understanding of the Design Elements that artists have used throughout history to create successful compositions. We also survey the essential elements of post-photography image management, using Adobe(tm) LIGHTROOM(tm)

How to Make a Comic Book
In this project-centered course*, you will create an original four page minicomic designed around a short story of your choosing.

Have you ever wanted to learn how to doodle? Or maybe you’re a seasoned doodler and just want to pick up more techniques? Well, whatever the case, this class will give you valuable tips, tricks, techniques, ideas, and examples!

Brand New Brand
This course is the culmination of the Graphic Design Specialization and gives you an opportunity to tie together your knowledge and skills into a single project: a brand development guide for a company you will invent. This course takes you through the entire design process, from ideation to creation to presentation.

The Practical History of Typography
The course examines typefaces associated with key design and technological developments of the 20th century—the Bauhaus, the New Typography, etc.—with an eye towards critical analysis of form, moving right up to 2017, including advances in generative type and variable fonts for web.

Custom Handlettering
Tools, methods, and techniques for creating expressive lettering using traditional tools and media such as ink, pen, paint, and brush will be demonstrated. Digitizing hand drawn type into vector designs, and combining handwork with digital design within projects will be explored.

Motion Design: Animated GIFs
Course will include introduction to creating GIFs with Adobe Photoshop.

Drawing Nature, Science and Culture: Natural History Illustration 101
The field of Natural History Illustration is about observing and illustrating subjects from nature, science and culture, with their linkages to the environment being central.

Basic 3D Modeling using Blender
This course uses open-source 3D animation tool Blender, to create a sustainable solution for animation skill development. Individuals interested in developing skill sets for 3D animation should take this course in order to learn the nuances of 3D modeling and Blender. The course has 4 weeks of content, which cover the basics of modelling, texturing, and lighting.

Cinematic Storytelling
This course is an introduction to the methods of cinematic storytelling, with an emphasis on visual grammar and techniques, taught by CCA Instructor and seasoned veteran of Lucasfilm and Pixar, Craig Good. Students will learn story structure, and how to develop written or spoken ideas into a clear dramatic narrative arc, and how to edit and juxtapose images to create a clear and emotionally engaging result for live action film and animation.
